If you need to put your ideas in order and think about how to tackle a project, creating a mind map is the best idea. There are numerous applications to choose from, but if you don't want to get bogged down in countless options, then you should have a look at Mindmapp. Not only will you be able to put your ideas "on paper", but you can also organize them and create a hierarchical structure structure, which can help you complete your tasks, one by one, in an efficient manner. Just like its name, the application is as simple as it can be. It doesn't take more than a few clicks to create complex and good-looking mind-maps, so you can focus your efforts on your actual work.

Mindmapp is offered as a freeware application and it is compatible with all popular Windows versions. It has a small setup file, so you don't have to wait for too long to download it. Also, installing its core components should only take a few seconds, even on slower machines.

The software presents a clean and simple user interface, with only a few basic controls, for saving, loading, copying, pasting and so on. A root node is created automatically on a blank canvas, which takes up most of the interface, and you only need to right-click to create a sub-node for the selected one. You can click and drag the entire canvas, but you can also move individual nodes and resize them.

Double clicking a node makes the contained text editable, so you can write your own text. You can apply different colors to a node's background, to its text and to its connector. What's more, the application lets you attach images to individual nodes. Attached images will stay right next to each node, even when you move it around.

Despite the small number of controls, the application lets you perform numerous actions through hotkeys. They are presented in a list, which you can reach through an option, in the upper-right corner of the interface. There you will also find options for exporting your mind map, to JPEG, PNG or PDF format.
